BASF announces two new products for the U. S. Ethanol Industry

June 21, 2016

  • Lutropur® MSA – a high purity methanesulfonic acid
  • Fueltase™ phytase – for increased ethanol plant efficiency

San Diego, CA, June 20, 2016 – BASF announced today two new products for the U.S. ethanol industry. Lutropur® MSA is a more effective, GRAS (generally accepted as safe) alternative to sulfamic acid and other acid-based solutions for cleaning-in-place (CIP) systems in ethanol plants delivering greater customer value. Lutropur® MSA is a strong and odorless organic acid extremely effective at scale removal, and it is readily biodegradable.

Fueltase™ phytase is an extension of BASF’s enzyme portfolio and is applied to fermentation in dry-grind ethanol plants in order to liberate free phosphorus from naturally occurring phytic acid found in grains which leads to greater plant efficiency. It improves yeast health by increasing free phosphorus and may increase ethanol yields by liberating starch bound to phytic acid.

BASF will be showcasing these new products this week at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo (FEW) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “The FEW is the ideal place to showcase the quality and benefits of these two new products for the ethanol industry,” said Markus Pompejus, BASF Vice President, White Biotechnology Research North America. “We are proud that BASF is providing new, innovative specialty chemical and enzyme products to the industry and we see this trend continuing into the future.”

Members of the media and others attending FEW can find BASF at booth 1233 on June 21 (11 a.m.- 6:30 p.m.) and June 22 (7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.).

Now in its 32nd year, the FEW provides the global ethanol industry with cutting-edge content and unparalleled networking opportunities in a dynamic business-to-business environment. To learn more, visit:
