BASF presents ‘Beauty in the Raw’ at NYSCC Suppliers’ Day

May 26, 2014

Exhibit will launch seven new personal care ingredients

FLORHAM PARK, NJ May 8, 2014 – BASF will present its diverse range of ingredients that are essential to personal care products at the 2014 New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) Suppliers’ Day on May 14-15 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition center in Edison, New Jersey. Visitors to booth #213 will see the concepts of Beauty in the Raw – ancient beauty rituals that are at the heart of many of today’s personal care and cosmetic products.

“Our customers will learn how the careful and deliberate selection of raw materials allows for a balance of the perfect aesthetics, end consumer benefits and substantiated claims,” said Al Pearce, Sr. Marketing Manager BASF Personal Care North America. “We will demonstrate how BASF’s extensive range of ingredients can contribute to the success of personal care products companies all over the world.”

The Beauty in the Raw theme, new products, formulations and an introduction to The Future of Beauty: Trends 2016 program will be
captured in the third edition of Creations Magazine which will be
distributed at the booth and available online at

The seven new personal care ingredients to be introduced at booth #213 are:

  • Perlaura™ – A water extract from the roots of Meadow Bistort (Polygonum bistorta) participates in the maintenance of the dermo-epidermal junction (DEJ) and dermal capillary cohesion for a combined optical and biological radiance effect. This new anti-aging active helps to restore skin’s homeostasis and integrity. Within four weeks, the skin appears visibly brighter with a smoother, more even surface.
  • Cetiol® Ultimate – With this ultrafast-spreading emollient, BASF meets a wide range of claims from ultra-thin oil-in-water formulations to smooth dry body oils and very light facial foundations that ensure a good coverage. Thanks to its volatile properties, skin care products with Cetiol® Ultimate are easy to apply, absorb quickly and leave a smooth, fresh skin feeling.
  • Ultrahold® Power – A new styling polymer delivering superior performance from hair spray formulas for sensational, long-wear looks. Consumers can achieve hair styles with perceivable shine that last all day even in humid conditions.
  • Z-COTE® LSA-UC – Naturally derived, uncoated, broad-spectrum UV filter. Z-COTE’s physical characteristics enable gentle product development, making it the filter of choice for baby care, sensitive skin or naturally derived sun protection formulations.
  • Radianskin™ – A pure molecule that visibly reduces dark spots from the face and hands. RadianskinTM reduces melanogenesis through an innovative mechanism blocking melanin release by the melanocytes, an alternative to the typical method of tyrosinase inhibition. Besides evening the complexion, the active also helps slow down premature photo-aging of the skin by preventing cell damage caused by UVB radiation and reducing the release of inflammatory cytokines.
  • Slim-Excess® – A red algae hydrolysate with proven efficacy on both face and body reshaping. Two biological compounds that have been targeted are spermine and spermidine, which take part in many mechanisms in fat metabolism: activation of lipogenesis, inhibition of lipolysis and activation of preadipocyte differentiation. Slim-Excess® acts like a molecular trap, blocks these two polyamines and redesigns facial contour within four weeks.
  • Vibracolor® Moonlight Blue – This extremely flexible hair dye is characterized by its great color intensity and excellent light and wash fastness. Easy to formulate, Vibracolor® Moonlight Blue introduces a wide range of fashion shades – from very light to intensely dark blue, as well as brown and other dark shades.
